hand man the Archangel grew to become jealous of The Lords power and took advantage of The Lords restful state. He rebelled and became known as The Devil. He created the Hells and his demons and claimed all of the evil peoples that reside on Lajoun. Expanding her role, The Mother took it upon herself to keep the Balance between these two as well as her other duties. Now in the present each of these three Overgods have appointed Deities to oversee various aspects of their wholes that make up complete Good, Neutral, and Evil.
Lajoun is an extremely magic rich world. You will find a multitude of varied races on Lajoun. Because of this there are not many xenophobic races and most of the large cities are comprised of many races and peoples that hold a similar view either of alignment or even just a similar interest.
Magic is the driving force of Lajoun but there is also technology and psionics. The majority of technology is either run or supplemented by magical means so it is not pure technology but it never could be on Lajoun since magical technology is so much easier, more powerful, and non-harmful to the magical environment that is Lajoun. However technology is very difficult to master and takes a lot of learning and experimentation. Psionics are somewhat rare but can be just as powerful as magic or technology.
The Elemental Reign
Fierce and primal elementals were the first to inhabit Lajoun. They did not build cities as they were too busy warring on each other for the most part, or so the sages say. Not much is known about this age.
The Dragon Empires
The dragons came after the elementals. They were the first to build cities and nations. They ruled all and warred amongst themselves using the "lesser" races as their slaves. Finally some dragons realized the strengths of the other races and taught them magic and made them fierce allies. Those that allied with other races quickly toppled the dragon empires that did not.
The Second Dragon Empires
A subsection of the time period where dragons ruled. During this time there was more division based on morals or common interests rather than by element as was previous. It marks the beginning of the way people live today.
The Deity Upheavals
During the time of the dragon empires the diety heiarchy was very simple and of course only consisted of dragons and elementals. Following the fall of the dragon empires Lajoun went through an intense time where nations grew and fell very quickly. During this time occured the emergence of new deities either replacing old dragon deities or completely new dieties in the hiarchy. This started many religious wars that combined with the upheaval already occuring. These were very bloody and desperate times. The population of Lajoun was devastated and reduced dramatically. Once the deity hiarchy settled down and became more stable people began to build again slowly.
The Rise of the Undead
Before this time there were only zombies and skeletons and no other undead. These undead were mindless bodies summoned by still living necromancers. Necrul, the First Necromancer, had summoned a massive army of mindless undead to worship him as he grew in power. He created a ritual spell that transformed him into the first lich, an undead with intelligence and memories still intact. Bolstered by his success he spent many years preparing for another ritual spell that would catapult him to godhood. This spell went horribly wrong and released a necrotic plague that spread quickly all over Lajoun. This plague gave intelligence to all undead creatures during that time it also raised new kinds of undead and turned some dying into undead. Most of these new undead had intelligence but not memories of their old lives, also to the horror of the living races at the time these new undead had the ability to reproduce. This lead to the Undeath to Death extermination wars which were brief but very violent. The undead were numerous and scattered and most did not fight together which made it extremely diffucult to hunt them down. Finally the living races realized that with intelligence the undead could have morals and follow laws just like any other race. The majority of the living races still do not get along well with most undead races. There are still mindless summoned undead as well which are controlled by undead necromancers.
The Werekin Wars
The werekin of Lajoun are natural werekin, they are all born and not "carriers" of lycanthropy. They only have two forms; an animal form, and a humanoid "hybrid" form. There is a prophecy that by bringing certain werekin bloodlines together there will be born a powerful scion and perhaps a new race as well. This is what started the Werekin Wars. Certain families warred with others to keep them out of the prophecy and some raided other families to steal an individual to breed with their kin. These of course broke out in all out bloody and very fierce but also personal wars. The wars ended not because any one family won but because the cross-breedings were unsuccessful. No matter what they tried the werekin could only breed within their own subrace. Many werekin families still hold grudges and fight secretly if not openly anymore.
